Our Waste Management guy accidentally ran over our kid’s basketball.
(Not his fault at all! My girls were playing , and when they saw him coming, they tried to get out of the way and the basketball slipped out of my daughter’s hand and rolled down our steep driveway)
He tried to stop but it was too late.
I heard the loud 💥POP💥 from inside the house.
My daughter was in tears because it was her big brother’s basketball.
He waved and apologized and said he’d bring us a new one on his next route.
I waved and told him not to worry about it.
BUT surprisingly he came by the next day on his day off to give this to my girls. ☺️❤️
What a nice surprise! My kids thanked him repeatedly as he drove off.
What a genuine act of kindness.

These pictures don’t represent our little landfill but the folks who work there are great! I’m always delighted by how helpful those who work here are. Expect lines but mostly there are none so your trash can go into a heap.

Heap the trash. Make a pile of it.

I guess this is what it’s come to.

Don’t forget to donate stuff you’re getting rid of before bringing it here. Furniture, home goods, building supplies, all can be repurposed if they’re not brought here.

Close to Grass Valley and very well organized the WM- McCourtney facility takes care of hundreds of customers each day. Their employees are all very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable about their facility. I've been there twice in the last week to dump trash, metal, and electronics and the wait was minimal. I was directed where to park, unload, and where to drive to next. Their new facility, under construction, looks like it will streamline their recycling process and be able to handle many more customers each day.

Many times my trash isn't picked up. I find my receptacle in the back of others. Calling Waste Management is an exercise in anger management. It is virtually impossible to get ahold of anyone by phone... unless you know how to game the voice menu system; it should not be this way. When I have gotten a hold of a human, they are so nice and apologetic. But... they *NEVER* follow through with what they promise. N.E.V.E.R. I've logged at least five broken promises. The pickup area is left oil-laden by leaking Waste Management trucks. The website is a disaster. It used to have an option to show receptacle history; that feature is gone. The feature of the current/new website displaying receptacle pickup status is always wrong, starting with the launch of the new website. It always says my trash receptacle has not been picked up. The pickup time is inconsistent making it difficult to know when to pick up containers (to avoid having random people's garbage being dumped in my containers). Waste Management is a horrible company. I believe a competitor would force trash pickup companies to a higher standard of service.

I’ve been volunteering to pick up elderly customers garbage for years now big items , items they can’t put in their can . I use my truck my trailer and their garbage and their one time free dump voucher . Never had a problem until the first day of the new center in mcourtney. Very rude new employees they wound t accept the pass and told me to pay cash 79.00 and put me on a list until I paid it. Never have I been treated so poorly at a facility. They also said my trailer held more than 2 cubic yards which it doesn’t . Now I can’t do my services anymore unless I pay them cash

Missed pick-ups with no concern to correct their actions. Failed to complete a return pick up for 2 weeks or more. No concern to refund bill. Has a tendency to destroy, take away/remove items from site without notice. Calling on the phone to wait for someone to call back but, never receive a call back.

Conflicting hours posted on Google maps & the website. Awesome. PSA - you have to present proof of residency to drop off dirty oil. But you can toss a buncha selenium and lithium straight into the trash. Super.

I will say though, staff on site are helpful, friendly, and five-star. No complaints with people, just with management, organization, planning of the site layout, traffic pattern etc. That's all chaos. But the people are surprisingly nice for how tough and dirty the job is. Hope to God they're getting good pay & benefits....

Most of the times my can is totally emptied. Sometimes it is not and I have to wait until next time to get it dumped. Leaves are not allowed in bags which creates a problem for extra pick ups when the can is not emptied correctly.
