Totally worth the hype … perfection!! Crust has buttery goodness in the best proportion, the filling is the best balance of sweet and tart - just the way the key lime pie filling should taste & beautiful whipped cream topping, the exactly the right amount!! Amazing!! So in love 🩷

While we were down in the keys and making our way back North from key West doing a beef delivery we stopped by to see about some key lime pie. My mama loves the authentic real key lime pie, not a fan of the frozen mass produced kind. Anyhow, after a lot of searching we finally decided to stop here to purchase a pie from the key lime pie lady and although it is pricey, (I've never paid that much for a pie) but I will probably do it again on the next trip down. It def was delicious and we also purchased a key lime Bundt cake that I believe was made from the store employees (maybe) and not the key lime pie lady but OMGosh, it was absolutely delicious as well and would love to buy another one!.
Also bought a whole chicken that the label said was fresh from a local farmer/never frozen and it was my first air fryer chicken and it was done perfect and super juicy! Yum.
We are all for supporting local farmers and ranchers as we sell BEEF that's grown locally in Okeechobee on a ranch where we work and live.
And the 2 women working there that night were just as sweet as they could be.
The store was clean and organized and the shelves were full. It was a pleasure stopping by and planning on it again in the future! Thanks so much y'all!

This family owned and operated market is fantastic. They’re always open, 24 seven. They have everything you could possibly need including fresh made sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, and so on.

The reviews are right. Great place. Lots of sandwiches and salads in the back. They have key lime pie ice cream in the fridge on the side. Skip all the bluebell and get that. They do have other key lime pie by front door too if you want to get in and out.

Almost forgot they got a decent single beer selection. Hard to find dilirium tremens as singles.

Great place and super convenient. Open 24 hours which is a huge plus if you are coming into the keys early or late. Also a huge plus for runners and crews before, after or during the Keys 100 ultra marathon races each May. Huge sub sandwiches from the deli that are made fresh and are priced very well. Key lime pies and frozen key lime pie covered in chocolate are two must purchases for anyone who visits the Keys.

About a month ago, I called The Trading Post from my partner’s bedside in a WV Neurological Critical Care Unit. I explained that his favorite Trading Post t-shirt got ripped when we took him to the emergency room for a head injury. I was hoping they had one in stock so I could replace it, but the rip was at the neckline and I couldn’t tell what size to order. The gentleman who answered was so incredibly kind, explained that he knew the exact shirt, but that they were low on stock at the moment and expected more to be in soon. He took my phone number, said that he hoped he experiences a full recovery, and that he'd call me back once more shirts were available.

He called last week, said the shirts were in and asked for my address. Once I gave it, he said he was sending two shirts since I couldn’t tell which size we needed, so of course I grabbed my credit card. He declined to take the number and simply said he hopes he’s doing better. I replied that he is, and asked him to please allow me to at least pay for one shirt and the postage, but he just wouldn’t take any payment.

The package just arrived, and we’re absolutely overwhelmed by their kindness and generosity. There are two shirts as promised, but also two hats, two Pirani insulated cups, Key Lime taffy, and a lovely handwritten note!

This morning before the mail arrived, I attended a ribbon cutting for a local shop. Since USPS had just notified me by email that the package was coming, it was on my mind when I ran into our mayor. So I told him the story of the kind phone call and we agreed how vital and rewarding it is to support small businesses. When I opened the package just now, this is what I texted to him:

"Remember the surprise I said was coming in the mail today? Look what they sent! The postage alone was almost $13, and they wouldn’t take a dime! THIS is the reason to support small businesses…big box stores can’t love you back!”

I never got the name of the gentlemen who returned my call, and he had no way of knowing who I am...or even if the story I told him was true. But he didn’t hesitate to go the extra mile to show kindness to a customer he’s probably never even met. When we visited Islamorada, we shopped at The Trading Post because we could tell that it was a family owned business and a local treasure. We had no idea how much of a treasure it is until now.

May the kindness that The Trading Post spreads keep returning to them!
