I had a custom aluminum gate built by Southern Custom Iron & Art LLC.
I provided the maximum sizes it could have, and requested a design mock-up before they built it.

They did not provide the mock-up I requested.
When they provided a picture of the gate before painting, it looks hideous, somewhat like a medieval war weapon. I provided them with a design solution that was not too intrusive but de-weaponized the look of the gate, which they followed, cut the aggressiveness of the look.

However, when they installed it, the gate barely fit (and was also taller that the maximum height I provided). I had to force the gate shut. I asked if they would replace the hinges with shorter ones so that the gate would close properly. They refused.

Less than a year later, the gate broke apart; probably part of the problem was the added stress from forcing it shut.
After a year of keeping it in storage, I got a letter from the HOA that they wanted a gate back. Instead of buying a new gate, I had this one repaired by a welder, 2R’s Welding, LLC. As part of the repair, he took off 1 full inch of the gate width to make it fit properly into place!

Southern Custom Iron & Art LLC needs to provide mock-ups to clients to stop wasting time redoing work that do not come out right, and more importantly, they need to measure carefully and follow the measurements so the work fits properly in place.
