I'm a big believer in brick and mortar businesses. If you look at Amazon and their same day delivery, apparently they are believers too. So why did so stores go out of business when faced with online competition? And now we are coming back to locally available inventories and all their associated costs.

Anyway reliable parts is a holdover from pre-internet days that has survived probably because they offer products that are harder to sell online and are often urgently needed. These types of establishments are the kind I like to support, usually.

In the case of RP, they are gouging their retail customers because they can and I find this extremely distasteful. I went there to buy a part that I've seen offered online for between $35 and $150. I assume that the cheap versions are aftermarket and therefore less money. RP stocks the oem part and to their credit had inventory in stock. They wanted more than all the online prices I had seen. Don't get me wrong, I was prepared to pay more for the convenience of getting it now. But I expected to be treated fairly. I left with my part, a nasty taste in my mouth and a strong will to never go there there again.

Would love to write a raving review of Reliable Parts, but they cannot answer their phone. Call was answered immediately by an auto-attendant, and I was connected to on-hold music (which was a bit louder than necessary). Every 20-30 seconds the auto-attendant would come back on telling me that a representative would help me shortly. I gave up after 11 mins. Who has 11 minutes to just sit on hold in 2024 without even being acknowledged by an actual human employee? First time potential customer lost. Will drive to OCAP and be back with my part before these people will even answer their phone. Unbelievable.

This is a horrible place. My dad went in to buy a part for the washer and on the website it said the part cost $33 dollars but once my dad asked the cashier she said it’s $43. So then he asked her but on the website it said it was $33 and then she replied saying oh then we don’t have it. She was extremely rude and incompetent to do her job. Then my dad asked to see the supervisor and he said the exact same thing. Then he sarcastically asked my dad if he wanted to drive to Berkeley to get the part. Horrible horrible place. Workers are idiots. Don’t waste your time coming here.

This place ROCKS!

Called 15 minutes before closing time looking for an igniter for my dryer. They had the parts in stock, only I was 20-25 minutes away. They offered to wait until I arrived, at least 15 minutes after closing time.

Got there, correct parts, all was good.

You can’t beat customer service like that!
