This product works great, but the paint flakes off horribly, the rack rusts quickly and I had a bad experience with customer service. Within 1 year of light use (I pull my ladders down about once or twice a week), the paint is peeling off in huge flakes and the rack is rusting. It looks terrible and my whole rig looks trashy and unprofessional now. When I called about it, they were standofish and told me to contact the retailer with no explanation as to why the paint was peeling or how to fix it. The retailer came back and said it would be $400 to send it back to the manufacturer, plus the cost of install, plus the however many weeks of lost revenue, to get it repainted. I called again and they just ghosted me. It was so expensive, looks horrendous, and now I don’t know what I am going to do. People used to call my business from the number on my truck, now that doesn’t happen any more, probably losing business because my truck looks awful.

Bought a brand new one for my Toyota Tacoma.
The rack itself is good (and was pricy),
But my big disappointment was the paint job that came from the factory.
After my FIRST use, loading LUMBER on the LUMBER rack, the paint peeled off.
About a month after purchasing the entire top surface has been completely peeled off and is totally rusting, as well as other random areas of the rack.

Customer service did not reply to my complaints and dissatisfaction. Hence my frustration and disappointment.

Be well aware of this issue.
If I had known I would have looked more seriously getting a used one.

I’ve had my truck rack for about 10 yrs now. Very solid. Made in USA!! Purchased used on Craigslist. Made some small modifications and had a Gold Powdercoat done. Looks fantastic! I like the fact that the weight is evenly distributed across the top of my truck bed with 6’ of angle iron.

Have recently purchased a wind deflector for the front tube just over the cab to cut down on wind noise. I’m assuming an issue with all racks.

I've been using Rack-It lumber racks since the late '80's. If I bought a used truck with a different rack on it, I always had to replace it. These are stout. American made quality racks. The flimsy Chinese ones are dangerous for putting any weight on. I own a small family construction company and after bending the cheap junk early on, I've insisted on Rack-It. I was at the manufacturing location and took a few pictures of the shop. I've included them here...

As racks go, they are the best but the wind noise begins at 20mph! So they suggested their wind deflector which I bought for over $100, a complete waste of money! There is no way any engineering or professional design went into this product which is surprising considering how long the wind noise issue has been. Something tells me a first year aeronautics student in college would say duh! Make it this way.
Do not spend a dime on this product.

I have used these racks on 4 different trucks over the last 15 years and very satisfied with design. I have had my local powder coat guy strip and coat because the factory coating does not hold up well.
