Amazing historic building with a tremendous collection of gift items for everyone!! So many unique & special items- great magazine selection, in-house art supply store & music supplies/instruments. Melissa & Doug toys, Hallmark Gold Crown- you name it & they probably have it! Owned by the nicest family in town for 100+ years, truly a treasure on Main Street in this beautiful little Mountain Town!

If there is a birthday coming up soon, I will likely start searching at Placerville News Company. Books on Birding, drawing and ink supplies, notebooks and fine decorations make this place a go-to. The high quality greeting cards are a great start. Never left this place empty handed.

We always called it the Newsstand when I was a kid and it was one of my favorite places to buy candy and read comic books. I used to go in during quiet times and as long as I was very careful with the comics the owner let me read them for free. He probably removed it after I left to make sure the customer that paid had a brand new not previously read comic book. lol
It feels like walking back in time everytime I walk into that store.... I love it!

Tons of art supplies, good selection of puzzles and reading material. A tad pricier than what we may be used to online, but it’s worth it to support local businesses. It’s a great shop to have on Main Street.

Bought a colored pen from their art supply section and it was ~$4.50 after tax for one pen. They also have a minimum purchase amount for debit and credit so plan to bring cash or buy a lot. The cashier made it seem like an inconvenience that she didn't know the price of the pen I was buying, and didn't order me a receipt until I asked for it.

On the positive side, they do have the only art supplies I could find on Main Street.
