When we came to pick up a load of concrete, Jason was helpful and friendly. This was our first time using a service like this, but we had calculated that our 8' x 8' x 3.5" slab would require 1.25 yards of concrete. Yes, that is a lot extra - but I always like to buy more than I need for projects. Also, one corner of the slab was a little more than 3.5". Jason told us that our truck could not tow 1.25 yards, but he didn't need to "make a dollar." He said that he would send us off with 1 yard, and that should be fine. If we needed more, he wouldn't charge us for the higher rate for the 2nd load. This sounded perfect. When we got home, we were short! We hurried back to buy some more. It was at that point that Jason informed us that he had only given us 0.75 yard in the first batch (even though he had charged us for 1 yard). Now it made sense that we were short. We only needed to fill about 25%, but I figured let's be safe this time and get 0.5 yards. Jason claimed that he gave us 0.5 yards in the second fill - but he was only going to charge us for 0.25 yards. But here is the kicker: he charged us the 5 sack price as if we were getting it from scratch. This resulted in us paying an additional $55. If he hadn't made the concrete swampy wet, I might have let this slide, but the concrete is soaking wet a day later. Additionally, he was most certainly dishonest in the amount of concrete he provided. Calculating volume is a very simple task: L x W x H. How could our calculations be off by half a yard? Even after the second fill, we were short!! We ended up having to go to Ace to buy 5 more 60 lb bags of concrete (Peterson's was closed by now).
I called them the next day to discuss the incorrect fees, and the shortness of the loads. Before I could even explain what happened, Jason started yelling at me. He refused to listen. When he finally stopped yelling, he said I could come in and talk to his boss. I decided to do so, figuring that his boss, Dwight, would be more reasonable. Dwight didn't yell at me (Jason, however, was yelling interruptions as I was trying to talk to Dwight). Dwight seemed to listen (though he occupied himself with other tasks as I explained how we had been shorted and not charged in accordance with what Jason said). After I explained, Dwight simply said, "you should have taken care of this yesterday; I'm not going to do anything to fix it."

Of course they were closed when we realized we had been shorted a second time, so there was no opportunity to take care of it. I was not asking for a full refund of the 2nd load: I just wanted Jason to keep his word about not charging us for taking a certain amount in two separate trips (remember he wouldn't let us take it in all one load - even though our truck was rated to tow 5,800 lbs).

My thought here is that this business is pretty dishonest:
1) Jason did not keep his word.
2) They clearly shorted us: twice. (L x W x H)
3) Jason yelled at me before I even had a chance to explain the problem.
4) They refused to "make it right" even when it was clear.
5) They forced us to make two trips so they could charge us extra.
6) They made lousy, puddling concrete.

I'm just one person of many. Perhaps they do not treat everyone this way, but my future concrete purchases will be elsewhere. You may be well advised to think twice before working with these people. I'll be disputing the entire 2nd charge on my Credit Card, and if Dwight has any questions, I'll quote him: "you should have taken care of this yesterday."
