The food is good in a unique location, but the reputation stands true that the owner is rude. She makes you feel like a burden for dining at her restaurant. We’ve been here a couple of times; the first time she had us sit at the bar because we didn’t have a reservation even though the restaurant was completely open. Only 2 other couples came in during our meal. The second visit, we were having a lovy anniversary meal out on the porch until she came outside and started yelling at some customers’ kids for playing down by her garden (they weren’t touching the plants, just in the grassy area.) I find it quite strange to be the owner of a restaurant but then act inconvenienced by customers.

The drive itself out to this beautiful spot is worth every minute. This restaurant has so much neat history on the walls, and the views from the deck are gorgeous. The food is top notch. Make a reservation.

Average restaurant, above average location. Our family of 4 adults and one child were highly recommended this restaurant - it sits in a great spot for travelers, but would not recommend as a “must visit”.
The fish tacos and fried yelloweye were outstanding, the grilled halibut a bit dry. We were never advised of the specials, which we would have ordered, and the beer choices are limited.
We were asked if we had a reservation for a weekday at 5:30pm, but the restaurant was never full while we were there.
The prices for the menu were average.

Had dinner reservations at 7:00pm… still waiting for my fish tacos at 8:45pm.. when I asked my server (Abby) when I could expect my dinner she said, “you’ll get your dinner when it’s ready “. Very rude! When I finally got my dinner it was good but absolutely not worth the long wait. Long drive and long wait means I won’t return.

Excellent food in a very relaxed atmosphere. And if you can snag one of the chairs on the deck with a great view of the mountains, it's even better.

Note this is definitely a local's place, so you may wait or be shut out without a reservation - but chill with one of their excellent beers and relax, and if you can get a seat it will be worth it. We had great halibut and went back twice within a week in late August 2021. Best food on Kodiak island!

Definitely the best restaurant I went to in Kodiak in the week I visited. A local recommended it and I was hesitant to make the long drive, but it was absolutely worth it. The beer is good, and the herb crusted halibut was fantastic! The space has a great view, and all the workers were friendly.

Worth a shot. Had a rough visit awhile back ago, but the owner who is always present, had asked us to give them a second shot and they did not disappoint. the Bacon Wrapped Halibut bites were truly great, and were only made better with the dijon sauce. Their Children's menu is smaller than most other restaurants, but the food is great, and the children loved it. Service was fast and attentive. With a small batch onsite brewery, they can offer great IPA and many other variety that any craft beer connoisseur would enjoy. The distance from town makes for a great drive on this beautiful island, and you are sure to see some wildlife on the way, and the view from your seat will beat anything in town. This place is worth your time and you will not be disappointed. My many thanks to the staff and owner, you are truly providing first class food and service. Also, the Chocolate Lava Cake, was the family favorite!

The Olds Inn was perfect for our 10 day fishing and sightseeing trip. We enjoyed the spacious, well appointed one bedroom cabin as our home base. |We were fishing the Kodiak Road system and the Olds Inn is in a great location for accessing the rivers and lakes.
