What a wonderful small business. I had a couple of 30 year old 8mm movie reels with the only footage of family no longer alive. I entrusted this precious, irreplaceable family heirloom to Buck at Movette and he came through with flying colors. I got back my USB flash drive with easy to upload & share video files, also overscans and non-speed corrected versions, neatly organized. BTW, I did shop around and the couple other places I found in the south bay that do this kind of analog film -> digital video transfer were both more expensive and just not as professional or high quality. Buck is a real professional with technical knowledge. I can't say enough good things about this business. Entering the shop alone is like walking backward through a doorway into the past.
Highly recommend this place to transfer your analog film to digital video. Maybe next time I do, they will have the Kleenex box again for when folks see people long dead they have only seen in their mind's eye for decades.

I really highly recommend Movette. I recently came across some old 8 and super 8 film in my parent's attic. After fretting for a while (actually months) about how to get it into digital form, whether to attempt doing it myself or sending it to one of the online services, I finally came to my senses and checked for local options. I'm so very glad I did because Buck at Movette did a superb job of the transfer, cropping the frames, and fixing/enhancing the color. He taught me about film date codes, and provided the transfer in mp4 as well as Prores422 formats. Buck is extremely knowledgeable and experienced, and explained clearly (without overselling) why he recommended a particular scan resolution. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Movette has recovered some remarkable family heirlooms for us.

Buck of Movette is incredibly knowledgeable about film, transfer, restoration. Also, he cares about the preservation of archival material and takes the time to explain the options. I recommend Movette for transfer of archival film.
I'm a video colorist and for 30 years was also a finishing editor. Last year I inherited 20 years of 8mm family movies. I wanted to transfer them to digital and was hoping to keep the job in town. Buck did a test for me and the results were good. I can't recommend Movette more highly. I give them ten stars.

Everything about this project of transferring old reels of film from the 1940s into digital video was great. First, Movette the shop is very cool (basically a museum) and Buck is highly knowledgable. I was able to look at the reels (with a lesson in loading them) to see what I wanted to transfer first. I had 4 reels made into video and the result was terrific. It was not an overnight process, but I had already waited two decade, so what was a three week wait? It was literally bringing the past back to life! The colors were rich and saturated, the film speed was accurate and my whole family really enjoyed watching these. We will watch for years to come. Thank you Buck!

This place is such a gem for creatives who love film... Buck is a helpful and knowledgeable guy. Every time I go in I learn something new. Best of all, their film transfer process is one of the best in the industry. I love how good my footage looks when I pick it up.

Walk into this everything annolog film shop and you feel like you've entered the time zone. Get old 16 mm films transfered to digital media. Save old Family movies from Oblivion.
