Sitting here for over an 1 1/2 hours and they have helped only 9 people. Very short staffed for the amount of people around here. Bet they close before they call our number and we got here at 10:21. Others are leaving in frustration. Finally got in just to find out they didn't give me the correct requirements to complete my license change the 1st time we were there last month. Untrained government employees. Suprise!!! So I'll just give up on Marion county at this location.

The Clerk I had was wonderful and helpful. The atmosphere was pleasant even with every chair filled in the waiting area. Get there early if you can, they open at 8:00 am.

Sept.18, 2024:
This is my second visit , ( review from 2022 below),to renew my drivers license, renew registration for 2 years, get new plates for my car, and apply for a copy of my title.
I came in at around 10:30am on Wednesday. I only waited less than 5 minutes to be served.
I was greeted with a big smile and “ hello, how can I help you today” , from Sabrina!
She handled my licence renewal, found a very easy to remember new plate, ( a new license plate is required every 10 years),took a great mug shot, saved me money by having my title sent by mail, and all paperwork , payment and finished business was done in less than 12-15 minutes. It was a painless visit!
I highly recommend this location.
Thank you Sabrina!
* review from 2022:
Went to this location on a Tuesday at 8:00 am when they opened. I was there to have my grandson get a Florida drivers license, title my car in his name, get his title, license plate and registration.
We were taken in right away. Not busy at all. Rebecca was very pleasant, helpful and informative.
We left to go get his car insurance he needed to get plates etc. came back in a half hour and no wait. This time Teresa helped finish the procedure, printed all needed title and paperwork, registered a new plate and we were out of there in about 10-15 minutes!
A big Thank You to Rebecca and Teresa for a job well done ! Great customer service!

The Tax Collector is also where you get your driver’s license at. (BMV). If you research online and have ALL the necessary documents the process is reasonable and quick. If you’re from OUT OF STATE, the 1st TIME YOU REGISTER YOUR CAR FOR PLATES WILL BE HIGH!!

My Mother passed away in Sep. 2023. As Executor, and not knowing what the heck I was doing, Sabrina at this location was a great help. I actually talked to three ladies there and all were very helpful, but Sabrina got saddled with the task of helping me. She was so efficient and knew exactly what to do. I had to wait 60 days per the will to transfer the titles and I live in Okla., but Sabrina processed the Titles on the first available date and conversed with me on the phone. What an amazing job she did. Thanks Sabrina and all the others involved!! Mike

Coming from out of state, I am NOT a fan of Marion counties Tax Collector offices.
First, they all close at 4pm and are only open Mon-Fri. If you’re like many people, you work all day Monday through Friday and are thus forced to take off work.
Don’t show up at 3 thinking you’ll accomplish anything. Going to the office near The Villages on Hwy 441/27, they ignore the ticketing system and let people in ahead of others cause “they’re going to be faster” I DONT CARE. It should be first come first serve.
To add insult to injury, once 4pm hits they do all they can to kick you out. I grabbed my travel trailer registration instead of my trucks. My truck registration was 100 ft away in the parking lot. Didn’t matter to the counter person. I had to come back another time cause they won’t let me back in.
They try justifying it by saying they’re cheaper than other states. Sorry, no. I came from WA which was considered expensive on the west coast. They are still cheaper than FL, offer more online services AND had at least some offices open a half day Saturday to help those who work during the week.
Marion counties offices are mismanaged and need to start requiring staff to help, not rush out, customers who had been waiting for their slow butts to get to them instead of whoever else they felt like helping.
Look at my reviews. I rarely leave bad ones. These offices have earned every bit of my disrespect.
