So, a friend and I took a trip to do a little food shopping in the neighborhood Key Food like we've done quite a few times before this place is only an emergency place when we don't feel like driving too far. I have to tell you I brought back bad food plenty of times a lot of times it's hard to go down the isles because they leave big cartons they're unpacking down the aisles, no one moves them, not crazy about the managers either When we were there, there were three incidents going on two of which were customers complaining about workers in the store and disrespect, and the two managers took their employees side completely didn't pay much attention to the customers who were upset about their treatment, then one of the employees was yelling at another woman by the self-help area, ! There is one man in that whole store that should be the one that is the manager to run the whole store ! he is always pleasant and always nice outside of that. I have no use for the present managers or most of the young employees very disrespectful.! This Key Food could use a whole revamping of managers, and some employees, and the whole store in general! This place seems to have gotten away with too much for way too long! Time to get rid of this store of horrors and nasty employees, they need to get rid of it, and put a beautiful, clean new store in its place!

Just a good Key Food store with whatever you might need and expect in it. Floors are clean, items are arranged, workers offering assistance without being asked to. The young lady at self-checkout saw me struggling and right away offered me what I needed. Prices are little higher than in Brooklyn, 50c here, 75c there, maybe there is a reason, I don't know. Good clean store.

This key for great customer service and stand island best customer service. They'll always be attending to the customers. When I access no more milk, don't always try to get milk. They got better customer service.Just keep where I recommend

I only go here when I’m in a pinch. It is expensive, and I mean SUPER expensive. Totally out of control considering it’s mostly self-checkout now and not as many employees. Also, check your items… you can always find something expired. I get it’s not going to be as economical as the bigger named stores, but it also doesn’t have to be $$$$$. Sad.

Lately, I only shop here twice a year or so. Never a pleasant experience. This neighborhood deserves a decent, clean, well stocked small supermarket, that's not a deli or another "convenience store"with good prices and good parking.
Unfortunately, this Key Food isn't any of those things.
Nothing changed in the past 25 years. Store is run down, dirty and items often expired. Prices are ridiculously high.
None of the employees are pleasant or helpful (Honestly, I don't blame them in this environment)
Last week the frozen waffles I purchased were clearly thawed and re frozen multiple times, most of the pieces with a thick layer of crumbling frost. Awful.

What is there about the Forest Avenue Key Food that is special? Hmm...several things:
1) I am vegan and I eat broccoli daily, I love it - even more so since I heard the Bush clan doesn't like it. I also LOVE avocados. And brussel sprouts. Key Food in West Brighton has the best produce on Staten Island. Period.
2) You want something they don't have or don't have a lot of? Tell Derrick. D is one of the store managers and he will get whatever you want. I eat a lot of Tofu (vegans needs a protein source) and Derrick makes sure there is a large supply of "House Foods Tofu Cutlets" on hand at all times. This lightly browned super firm Tofu is ONLY AVAILABLE at Key Food.
3) In addition to being vegan I have Celiac Disease which means I am just insufferable when it comes to meal prep, my family throws their hands up in the air - Derrick and Key Food to the rescue. They have a number of gluten-free items including the wonderful Schär table crackers.
So, Key Food has the best produce on the Island (by a mile), they have esoteric items for both vegans and gluten-free people and they are a community based grocery store on a main artery in the North Shore with a decent size parking lot. But have I forgotten anything? Yes...
Key Food is a union shop - UFCW Local 1500. The only knock on KF is that they are a little pricy compared to the huge chain stores. I really don't mind - they are union, they carry esoteric items I really like and they will order anything you want. Take that Stop N Shop!!

The quality of vegetables and fruits are worst... they have fungus over them, this is my 3rd time, I went there and got worst fruits and vegetables. See the pics.
