I custom fitted pieces to fit on my motorcycle so that I can put a luggage rack. Or rather Joel did it for me. I called and he said he be happy to help. Arriving here took a bit of time. Google map is off on this one. His shop is at the far end of where the USS Hornet is in Alameda in what was once formerly a U.S. Naval base. Drive past the hornet and past the Baldium Sports Gym and turning left at the end of that road, you find a restricted zone. Just go into it.

Joes was helpful. Took measurement. Told me to come the next day and took half an hour to fit it on my motorcycle. I was in a hurry or I would have asked him to sand it down a little for me as you get some pieces of the wielding on it so it does not look smooth.

So know what you want to do and ask for Joel. He is ultra helpful and does not treat it as if the job was beneath him. He will even show you around the workshop if you ask him. Oh, his prices.... ultra reasonable. Thanks man.

Oh my gosh, what a good experience!

I had a job that was a little hard to explain on the phone, and I was in Alameda anyway, so I took a chance and drove out there with the piece. It was just one cut and some holes (trying to shorten the post on a recumbent bike), but pretty solid metal, and I’d been quoted $100 on the phone somewhere else— so since the other reviewer had a good experience with a small job, I thought I'd see whether I might too. Perfect: This guy had a giant upright saw with a straight blade that went through it like butter. He filed the edges for me and sent me on my way for a very fair price for a few minutes’ (highly skilled) work. Based on this experience, I’d trust him with a bigger job. The other guy up front, who does large sculpture and signs and stuff for the Exploratorium, and his dog, were very friendly, too, and let me into the cooperative building. (BTW, Google Maps is correct now.) I bet between the two of them, they could do just about anything. And it’s really beautiful and interesting out there by the ships, too. Thanks, guys!
