There are 2 people here who are fantastic. I'm a regular traveler here (2 times a month). If I don't get these people, I will inevitably be charged for fuel or they don't even bother processing my return. If you use them, please check your receipt (assuming they process your return). The only recourse I've had was going through twitter for customer service, which is generally good. But beware of this location. I wish I had the 2 people's names, but I have a horrible memory for that unfortunately.

Edit: All the surveys in the world aren't causing this to get any better. At this point I'm just going to switch to a different rental car place...

This is located in a very small airport so the actual wait wasn't long. Just do your best to do all the reservations online so you can avoid doing more in person. Respond to emails before hand, dealing with the desk is harder if you're not filling all the things out online. I'd suggest paying for the gas surcharge especially if you're flying 😉 just easier but can be more expensive. Way easier to drive yourselves there without stressing about getting gas in the vehicle on the way to the airport, I've learned the lesson so many times over.

I strongly recommend not using this Hertz. Hertz as a company is great, but this hertz in the Key West airport is terrible. Stay away.
If you have not been to the Key West airport before when you get there, you will see that it is very small so the Hertz staff is very small and often the same staff. We have been there twice and both times we have dealt with the same incompetent individual. Stay away. Staff do not communicate well. Prices are inconsistent, they do not stick to policy. Additionally, they do not check the car that they are giving you. Customer service is terrible, stay away. Dealing with Hertz dampened the beginning of our trip. Use enterprise or dollar.

I rent Hertz at multiple locations around the United States and have been President's Circle for as long as I can remember. This has to rank as one of the worst locations to rent a car from that I have ever experienced.

1. President's Circle means nothing here. So don't think about upgrades, picking your own vehicle, or even getting a car with features.
2. All cars are about are dumbed down as you can get at this location. Base models that dealers won't take. High mileage..
3. Asked to switch payment methods / credit cards. They had no clue how to do that and basically they couldn't. A lie, because I have had it done with ease before.
4. A $340 dollar rental, plus $200 deposit is normal. They keyed something wrong, and I had a $1,400.00 hold on my credit card.
5. Tried calling the HERTZ location during business hours about 50 times during the day and nobody could pick up the phone. 50 times throughout the day and nobody could answer once... Very poor customer service. NO EXCUSE.
6. HERTZ customer care told me they would email the location and tell them to call me. Never heard back.

HERTZ Cooperate, Wake up. This site is giving you an extremely bad reputation!

Probably the worst rental counter experience I’ve ever had. Two employees there working on one single rental while 8 people stood in line. After dealing with one client for 24 minutes (timed), in which maybe 3 words were spoken and one employee stared into a computer screen as if hacking into the main frame, the other employee vanished. The attitude was as if the other people in line were an inconvenience and how dare we have reservations.

I travel quite a bit and you would be much better renting a golf cart in key west than dealing with Hertz.

We got upgraded to a minivan, which was nice. Having a car in Key West is a bit of a curse (noobie mistake). Topped off with the Hertz lot being full when I returned it, the awesome young lady that rented it to me and then took the keys on return said it was "all good", and it was. I wish I had gotten her name. She was great.

When your plane is delayed, they do NOT wait for you to land and pick up your car even when you have your flight information entered into your car rental. We landed at 7:30 and the counter had closed at 7. Prior to our flight we tried calling multiple times to verify we would have pick up, and we were unable to ever get through by phone. The Enterprise counter was open, so we were able to rent through them. Use Enterprise, they wait around for your plane to land.

After I turned my vehicle in, they continued to charge my credit card for 4 days. They refuse to answer any phone calls and o had to wait nearly 45 mins for them to give me my car when I originally picked it up. Choose any other rental car in Key West.
