We have always purchased our chickens from Charley’s Chicks close to Jacksonville and ALWAYS got well socialized healthy birds that I could hand feed and pet daily. Even when we purchased them already grown.
This past summer based entirely on the reviews, we went and purchased ‘available’ chickens from Happy Hearts in Live oak. The folks here are wonderful people, no doubt. Immediately upon going to where the ‘available’ chickens were housed, it was just a plywood sided dark room outside, I had a bad feeling and should’ve left. I thought, well I’m already here and the reviews are great. I proceeded to purchase three young chickens.
Now I have purchased hundreds of dollars of chicks, pullets and hens from Charley’s. Never ever a problem. These three from Happy Hearts were immediately not well mentally. Even though they had free range capabilities daily, they wouldn’t go. They literally stayed in the corner of the coop facing the corner as in time out. I have never seen such a thing. I took pics and sent to my friends that are well versed in chickens. All independently said the same thing. Mental and social issues. I proceeded to spend allot of time trying to help these chickens. Finally after 10 days, 1 mingled with my other chickens and proceeded to be be just fine. The other two stopped eating, stopped living and eventually 1 died. I just gave away the other two. Extremely disappointing and an expensive loss.
I had invited several chicken friends over to help, nothing. Based on all of these other reviews, I just don’t get it. I had 104 chickens at one time from Charley’s. All very healthy. Never had a problem.
I didn’t contact HHearts because I didn’t want an exchange for more of the same thing and they don’t refund. I didn’t want to hear any excuses or that it must be me even though it’s ONLY these three out of all of my chickens that have issues. No thanks! No more Happy Hearts for us. We will drive the extra miles to Charley’s from now on to get our healthy birds.

I had a great experience at the Happy Heart Farm! Jay and the young people operating the place were very friendly and helpful. I picked up the 4 pullets I ordered and they helped me pick out 2 more pullets to round out my flock. All my pullets including a silver laced Wyandotte, a Golden Laced Wyandotte, a Bielefelder, an Isa and 2 EEs are all beautiful specimens and all healthy and happy. I highly recommend Happy Heart Farms to anyone looking for specific healthy pullets. I can’t wait to pick up 2 more later this month!

First time chicken owners, originally we thought we would go the chick route but had issues finding chicks. We found the website and decided to order 6 2 month old hens and one rooster. The people who own this are very professional and very nice. The chickens are in perfect health.

Bought 4 hens from the farm. Costs reasonable and fair. Healthy, strong and no losses with our hens to date. The farm and the people are amazing. We are buying 6 more from them and they will remain our preferred farm as we build our flock and breeds.
