Final update: So just happened to order during the souths freak snow storm so shipping was delayed no fault of there. But once it actually shipped the overnight shipping was great showed up before noon the next day with plenty of dry ice left in box. As far as packaging goes itwas great. Really liked the laminated certifications for each steak. Ordered the a5 miyazaki ribeyes they were advertised as 12 to 16ozs. One was 16.5 and the other was 17.3 with packaging was really nice to see they gave towards and above the higher end of the spectrum for weight. One of the steaks were very oxidized and lost out on the expectation side and just being very nit picky but customer service was great. And responded quickly. Steaks were otherworldly just the richest beef ever tasted. Well worth the money. I'd recommend these guys for the pride they have in there product

When I had first received this cut of wagyu, as you can tell, it appeared to be very grey and dark in color towards the outer edges. It had not even been opened and yet it was already discolored. I thought this would go away after it had defrosted., but the tinted meat remained. I couldn’t eat the outer parts which obviously is a waste of the $400 I had spent. I contacted customer support and they offered no help. Poor service.

The quality does not justify the prices. There’s no difference between a well selected Costco prime steak and theirs. If you know what you’re doing and you use good quality wood and spices, you’ll save 80%. Same thing applies for the brisket. I am looking for the “wow” factor. Didn’t find it here!

I haven't bought from them, my experience is strictly with their unwillingness to answer a simple question. This question has been asked by several individuals, you can see it by browsing questions on their website. The answer is always the same and sounds very elusive. For example, below is a question from 11/20/2022 with the answer that follows:

Q: What is the total weight of this order for $580
A: Hi,
Here are the weights per size:
Weight 1/2" Thick: 12 - 16 oz avg Steak.
Weight 1" Thick: 20 - 24 oz avg Steak.
Thank you.

What does the thickness and steak weight have to do with a question about slab weight? Maybe I am stupid and missing something but, wouldn't it be simpler to just give the weight?

I have been ordering from Grand Western for over a year. I recently received an order of 2 Prime tenderloins that were good, but not up to their usual excellence. I understand beef has been hard to get during the COVID crisis, so I figured that was the reason. Because I know they always strive for excellence, I sent them an email to let them know. I wasn't expecting anything in return.

I heard from Emilio within an hour of me sending my email and he insisted he wanted to make it right. I assured him it wasn't a big deal. I didn't hear back from him so I figured he just blew me off. Just the opposite. I soon received an email with a FedEx tracking label. They far exceeded any reasonable form compensation, especially since the original products were better than most other places.

I feel guilty because I never expected nor asked this from them. It absolutely confirmed this is the only place to get high-quality meat.

I ordered Kobe beef. It was sent to me ground 2 days along with other items. It was not the size and quality I expected. I called, and sent it back the next day per instructions. I received it on a Tuesday and they received it back that Friday. I received a call informing me the steak had been received. Two weeks later I called about the status of my refund. I was told a request would be put in for the refund. I contacted them again 4 days later about my refund status and was asked for the tracking number. I was later told I could not get a refund because the steak arrived back to them spoiled and they know this because the size of the package on my shipping statement is smaller than the package they sent so it could not have contained dry ice and I sent it two day ground. I received 3 boxes in the container from them, which contained chicken and it was sent to me two day ground. I only sent back a 6-8oz steak with a smaller dry ice. During all of my previous communications with them, including the call stating they had received the steak, nothing was said about the steak being spoiled until after I kept requesting my refund. They have stopped communicating me and I am out of the $300 I paid for an 6-8oz steak I don't even have. I don't have $300 to give away and would have felt better if they had offered me a credit or something.

Website discount system needs some work. Had a discount code for 30% off and the site kept offering free shipping if I added some more to my cart (to get over the $350) for free shipping. I did just that and I noticed on the checkout page that they still wanted to charge me $14.95 for shipping. I inquired about this on their FB chat and 7 hours later, they told me to try a different browser. I did and got the same result. THEN they tell me that free shipping is not available if combined with discount codes over 15%. I explain to them that their site is offering it in order to get me to add more to my cart. The final explanation is to read the fine print (it's there, I admit), that free shipping is not available combined with discount codes over 15%. I was including screenshots of my cart where you can clearly see that the 30% discount code is entered but their site is telling me "just $34 more to qualify for free shipping"...then I add $34 more to the cart, then it says "You qualify for free shipping!". Guess what, when it's time for checkout, there's that mysterious $14.95 charge. The chat rep did not acknowledge the issue and instead referred me to the fine print multiple times. I'm changing my 1 star review to 4 - ONLY because I cant stand to ding a smallish business in my home state. Get it together guys.
