Downtown Placerville is an absolutely delightful place to visit! It's brimming with fascinating history, including the fact that they used to hang people right in the town center. Yikes! But fear not, because it still maintains a cozy hometown feel, and the historical buildings add to its old world charm. Who knows, you might even encounter a friendly ghost or two! LOL. And let me tell you, during the Christmas season, it transforms into a truly magical sight. True Americana gold rush town. Quaint and safe town. Several beer spots, especially Placerville Public House, where the owner makes exceptional craft beer. Many small shops. Worth a stop or an overnight at the Cary House. Camino is just up the hill for wineries or Apple hill season.

Love riding motorcycle from the San Francisco Bay area for lunch at the Old Town Grill, browsing old and large hardware store, antique shops and art stores! Town is a bit touristy but has lots of history and atmosphere. Lots of picturesque back country, and winding roads. Large public parking garage that is free for 2 hours.

July 4th,most of the stores closed on this federal holiday but few Art Galleries open for bussiness..historic mining town, noted Hanging man.. beautiful little cozy town ..lots of history..

Downtown Placerville is a cute little spot to visit and walk around. My one complaint is that it’s not very stroller/disabled friendly at some of the crosswalks further down the north end of Main Street. Near Main Street Melters there’s a few sidewalks that don’t have ramps so those with small children and people in wheelchairs are unable to safely cross the street
