The first time we visited the Keys we enjoyed Theater of the Seas. This time we chose a less touristy version and chose the behind-the-scenes tour of Dolphins Plus. It’s clear that the staff cares about the six dolphins who reside at the center: two mothers, each with two children. Without seeing a theatrical show, we enjoyed watching the dolphins interact and have fun. Feeding time was especially enjoyable. Going behind the scenes we saw the preparation that goes into feeding and the thought that goes into providing engaging activities for the dolphins. Note that the center’s goals extend far beyond caring for the resident dolphins and includes animal welfare, research, and rescue/rehabilitation.

I spent some time researching the best dolphin experience for my family. I ended up selecting this organization because they are a non-profit and they had the best description of what we would get to do while we were there on their website. This was to be the highlight of our trip to Florida. I paid $1,240 for the five of us to interact with the dolphins. While this price felt steep, I justified it as a once in a lifetime activity. The website description stated we should allow for 1.5-2 hours for the entire experience which would include education, touring the facility, getting life jackets, and then actually getting in the water with the dolphins.

Our timed entry began at 3:30. We were back to the parking lot in our car by 4:15. When we did get our chance for the fun part, we had to split our time in the water (about 15-20 min) with another family rotating turns back and forth.

While getting the chance to be in the water with dolphins was memorable, I definitely think they should update their website. Why are they telling people to allow up to two hours when they only had a 40 min program? And even then, 25 min of that was waiting, getting fitted for jackets and listening to a speech? It felt like a bait and switch, or perhaps that they were overbooking to monetize on Spring Break and rushing everyone through. We left feeling very disappointed and sticker-shocked.

We have been twice, once with my wife and then the entire family. My 8 year old was a little nervous around the dolphins, but my 10&12 year olds were fine. The staff are great and very accommodating to ensure you are comfortable and get a great experience. Would highly recommend. Once in a life time experience.

A truly magical experience. Kisses from dolphins! This was the best animal encounter I’ve ever had, a highlight of my life (not exaggerating, it was that good) and my son I’m sure will be remembering it for years to come. We did the “Deluxe Dock-side” encounter, because we were not sure about trying to swim with a 4yr old. It felt good that it was a rescue center and the staff were all very kind and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Every part of it was AMAZING!!! $185 plus $10/person observing. We got to ask questions, see and hear the dolphins having fun and see the instructors loving their dream job. The way R snuggled with the dolphin afterwards showed that she truly LOVES the dolphins there. It was a once in a lifetime treat for my daughter and worth every penny. They have professional photography for an extra fee.

This experience was outstanding! A dream come true when the dolphine’s eyes connected with mines and I got the opportunity to swim with them. This was an amazing experience for my family including myself, husband, and 9- and 7-year-old kiddos. We’ve never been to Key Largo and I had no idea where to book our dolphin experience. After reading reviews, I called this spot and the nicest lady helped me book my same-day shallow/deep water experience. The trainers were all very friendly and knowledgeable - my dream of swimming with a dolphin came true! The dolphins are so soft and beautiful - it’s amazing all they can do and how patient they are with humans. That’s me with my very happy smile in the photo I included. My 7 years old wasn’t sure if he wanted to do the deep water experience, and the trainers were very supportive and not pushy whatsoever. Thank you! 😀🐬

My boys did the splash and swim and had an Amazing time. An unforgettable experience for them. Not only was this a great vacation experience the money goes to further conservation, protection, and research for these wonderful animals. The staff and trainers were excellent.
