Dinosaur Caves Park - Pismo Beach, California

I’ve been going to Dinosaur Caves Park since 1970. It is an excellent park in the Shell Beach Area of Pismo Beach. There is an area with a playground for children. In addition there is a large grassy area to walk your dog(s) and is very dog friendly. Just don’t forget to pick up anything your puppy might leave behind - there are bags available near the parking area along Cliff Avenue. It has lots of space but bring a blanket for the lawn as there are only benches and no tables. it is a great place to grab some very scenic pictures of the California coast with dramatic views of the rugged coast - but be careful as there is no beach and the oceanside is all cliffs. Depending on the time of year, there are various types of coastal flowers and always plenty of seagulls and other aquatic birds. You may be lucky and catch a wale passing by or seals and sea otters. It's a great place to enjoy the coast with your SO, children or pups. Though it is often sunny, it can be foggy especially late spring thru summer. Also at the paved parking area there are bathrooms open during daylight hours.

Great place for pictures. If you drive on the outside perimeter and go around the dead end, more roads will lead you to great views. Get lost, who cares we all have GPS

After you park your car at the parking lot, you walk a little bit towards the "dinosaur" caves. Sadly no dinosaurs except for a small statue of one on your way to the caves. You follow the steps down into the beach, but be careful because they're covered in sand.

Down at the bottom of the dinosaur caves is a massive water cave on the beach. Next to it, there are many little tide pools of fun creatures inside.

Then if you're up for feeling adventurous, there is another little part beyond the tide pools over the cliffside. But it's quite a climb so be ready.

Such a peaceful and beautiful place. There is a park where you can reserve spots for you event, dog friendly, and restrooms. The walk along the bluffs you have spanning views of the ocean and rocks, where multitudes of pelicans, cormorants and seagulls hang out. We even saw turkey vultures. There are sitting benches and a gazebo you can relax at. The stairs down to the caves are closed now. But the views are still amazing. I recommend walking around and visiting the local shops.

Had a great time on Halloween at the park with our toddler. There are also trails to the cliffs overlooking the ocean! Restrooms available as well

I recently visited this park and was thoroughly impressed! The beauty of the landscape is breathtaking, making it a perfect spot for relaxation or a picnic. One of the standout features was the ample parking available, which made access easy. The restrooms were also clean and well-maintained, a big plus for any visitor.

This is a fantastic park and free admission. My wife and I visited here as we have friends from this wonderful little town Pismo Beach. Not only you get a breathtaking view of the ocean, but also you enjoy various points of the park where you can sit. Great place to relax and enjoy various scenery wonderful spot for kids and also if you have a pet. Highly recommended.
