We were the first family to move into a new home in the Cortona Homes at Pismo Beach. The process of buying a new home can be stressful at times. For us, the whole process of purchasing, moving in, and living in our new home has been a very positive experience. We love our house, and recognize the quality, thoughtful design and care the developer and builder put into the Cortona Homes development.

Upon the purchase of our home, we understood that every step of the construction was inspected by a city’s building inspector to ensure that our new home was built to the high standards the city requires before approving completion.

We had a typical walkthrough with the builder where we compiled a list of items that needed attention. Most of the items were of a usual nature such as touch up paint. Everything on our list has been taken care of to our satisfaction. When we moved in, the movers scraped and dented a few places on the wall and the builder offered to fixed them as well.

For several months after we moved in, we were pleasantly surprised how often the developer, the builder, and our amazing sales representative checked with us to see if we found any additional items that needed to be fixed. They wanted us to be completely happy with our home.

We are very proud owners of a Cortona home at the Pismo Beach development. We feel that the value of the Cortona Homes is evident in the construction and beauty.

We would recommend purchasing a home in this development to anyone considering a new home in the area.

We have owned our Cortona home (Plan B) for about 18 months. We love both our new house and the location. The construction issues we had with the house were both minor and quickly fixed by the contractor.

It has been such a pleasure to own a home that requires virtually no maintenance and it seems we are on a “house vacation” every day. Our previous home always required something: painting, replacing exposed wooden decks, roof issues and other miscellaneous “to do” items.

Now, we are free to spend out time doing other things we enjoy.

As a prospective/obsessive homebuyer, I have looked throughout the Central Coast at both new and used homes. I am so very happy to have found Cortona Homes! The quality, level of finishes and workmanship is custom home quality. It is solid!
I have built 2 of my own custom homes in the past so I was so very pleasantly surprised at the accuracy, range of options and execution of my wish list. The sales representative and designer have been incredibly knowledgeable, kind and patient in supporting me in a very personal process to construct my final dream home, I am truly grateful for that!! I have met the team that is building my home and made friends with the customer service rep already! They have been nothing but professional and responsive. I am counting the days until I can call this my forever home and I cannot thank everyone at Cortona Homes enough for making this dream a reality!!! Business is truly personal once again...

I recently purchased a new home at Cortona Homes in Pismo Beach. As a general contractor, I inspected the home
personally during various stages of construction. In addition to my personal inspections, I also know that the City of Pismo Beach must inspect, pass, and sign off numerous phases of construction. Knowing this, I made my decision to purchase with confidence in the quality of construction and the overall value of the home. The design and sales team were responsive, easy to work with and the upgrades were of good quality. At walk through, we had a mis-communication of the exterior stairs I requested off the back deck. The builder without hesitation, made the change that I was hoping for. In addition their crew has helped me out with a few changes that I wanted to make after close with no charge. I have been very impressed with not only the end product
of my home but in the continued service and care that I have received.

As a homeowner at Cortona, my husband and I are so pleased with our new construction. We are near the beach and so the location is perfect for our lifestyle. We also love our floorplan and the overall design and quality of construction. There are literally no other developments in the area that meet the quality and value of Cortona Homes. We feel so lucky to live here!!!

We purchased our Cortona home 13 months ago. It has been a complete nightmare trying to get our walkthrough items completed and fixed. I can best describe this emotionally, draining situation as a group of unprofessional clowns running a circus! I have heard every possible excuse why our house has not been finished, and we continue to have to deal with cortona homes unresponsive and uncaring attitude. I would never, ever recommend buying a home in this new development.

We purchased our new home over 14 months ago, and it has been very unsatisfying and frustrating.

This is a brand new house with some developer offered optional upgrades; the initial quality many of the items was extremely poor and very disappointing. The quality of our house at time of close, in our opinion; didn’t live up to the expectation set by the model home we were shown.

As part of the walk-thru inspection, they stated to just blue tape it and we’ll come back and fix it. 14 months later, we are still waiting on some of those items to be corrected.

Although some items on the list were very simple like missing cabinet drawer handles, in-operable sink drain stoppers, etc.; it is obvious that their attention to detail was much lower than ours. Getting the developer to get the sub-contractors to come back and correct the over 100+ items on our walk-thru punch list has taken months.

While trying to schedule repairs, on multiple occasions, and without notice, the sub-contractors cancelled or just failed to show-up. It has been very distressing to work with the developer to coordinate sub-contractors; as they continued to make commitments, which they rarely complete as promised.

The developer now has refused to fix some outstanding items on our list, stating that it is a ‘standard’ home; not a custom home. They have even refused to correct items not installed correctly as stated on the original purchase invoice; stating that we accepted the incorrect product as part of the final walk-thru. Oddly some items listed on the walk-thru punch list were eventually corrected, but they have been very selective in not correcting others.

We have sought independent third-party professional assistance to examine our home, and they advised us, that some of the construction was poor and should be corrected. We then passed these findings on to the developer, but they have still refused to address these issues.

It was only through our own investigation that we discovered a serious defect with the installation of the fireplace; requiring extensive repair (which the developer ultimately corrected with a different builder). This issue has left us questioning if there are other things we are not aware of.

The poor customer service we have received along our journey, has been one of the worst emotionally we have ever experienced. The developer and their representative’s consistently make verbal promises that they promptly fail to perform. Even when we provide them written confirmation of the details of our discussion; their actions rarely live up to expectations.

Overall we have been very disappointed with the developer, the builder, the listing real-estate sales agent, the developer’s consultative representatives, and some of their sub-contractors. We strongly recommend that you do your homework before considering purchasing in this development.
