If your wife doesn't cook or your single and don't feel like cooking this a great place to pick up a meal.. both fresh and ready made options. Awesome pan dulces and tortillas and great prices on produce. Too many temptations if your trying to loose weight, food is too good!

Prices are reasonable. I am amazed at the hard-working staff who cooks fresh tortilla shells. I always asked for one free fresh off the stove tortilla shell, yum. There are vast varieties of fruits and vegetables for all ethnic backgrounds. Additionally, freshly cooked meals are readily available for lunch and dinner.

Let me tell you: pre-COVID, we were coming to the SD area twice a year; now it's once. And never in that time did I know about Carnival Supermarket, National City. IDK how I stumbled upon it this time but....we've been ROBBED all these years!

Fresh and HOT tortillas (flour are only burrito-sized). Excellent butcher counter. Avocados: 5/$1 on the weekend!!! Multiple fresh juices, the horchata was AMAZING! Hot-serve section: we bought carnitas and beans/rice for our AirBNB stay, accompanied by fresh guacamole and pico de gallo. Carne asada burrito was extremely generous; look at what she's doing! Stand in line too long and you're sweeping up desserts.

I'm telling you...this place is BOMB. Store was very clean and tidy, staff was just lovely, even when they couldn't understand Husband's broken Spanish. If we lived here...

(We were headed north and stopped at the Carnival on Ashford. This location was different and did NOT have many of the foods we were hoping for. Still, it was very appealing.)

The most economical way to do grocery. I love the fast food with very good authentic Mexican tortillas, burritos and rice meals on 3rd Avenue, Chula Vista. Get your natural dried hibiscus red petals for best urinary care drink. Just soak in water and place in fridge. Start drinking the liquid next day. Just keep adding water for refill. No sugar needed. Its bland and tangy enough for off taste water drink. They also have little bottle shots of potent concentrated lemon and ginger with honey for immune system. I like also the natural juices in bottles from squeezed fruits and vegetables.

It's pretty pricey now but you'll find almost everything you need concerning dinner and bakery. I do recommend not to keep the meat in the fridge for more than 3days...freeze the meat that you won't cook right away or on the day of purchase.

This market has very nice produce and a good variety of fresh food. I just spent a month in San Diego but I feel like it was cheaper than most markets and yet with better quality of merchandise. It also has some daily deals that makes it worth checking out on a regular basis if you are staying or live close by one of their units. They also have a nice in-house taco and other foods stand with good prices and a 3 for 2 sale on their chicken taco. I think it costs like $4 total. It's pretty convenient if you're hungry while shopping (and really tasty as well). I came over here a number of times during my stay in National City. Their staff is also really nice and welcoming. Recommended.
