In response to the previous review, Blue Mountain Minerals posts the following frequently asked questions and answers about our business.

Q. Does Blue Mountain Minerals own the trucks that deliver its products to the market?

No, Blue Mountain Minerals does not own or operate any of the highway trucks that bring our products to market. Our customers usually contract with independent trucking companies or truckers to arrange for transportation to the customer's location.

Q. How many trucks a day are there on the roads?

The number of trucks per day varies widely depending on the day of the week and the time of year. Recently, about 60 truck trips per day has been the average. Due to variations in customers' seasonal requirements and production scheduling, daily truck traffic has varied from as high as 150 and as low as 10 trips per day.

Q. What does Blue Mountain Minerals do about the damage to the roads caused by highway trucks?

Blue Mountain Minerals has entered into an agreement with the County to pay a per truck fee to the County Public Works. This agreement has two component fees: a road maintenance fee and a long-term improvement fee, both for use on the segments of County roads identified by Public Works. This agreement is the first of its kind in the County, and represents a voluntary contribution by Blue Mountain Minerals towards maintaining County roads.

Q. What percentage of overall traffic through Washington Street in Downtown Sonora are Blue Mountain Minerals' trucks?

According to recent traffic surveys, total truck traffic through Washington Street in Downtown Sonora is less than 3% of the total traffic; and that includes counting each truck as the equivalent of four cars. This truck percentage includes all logging trucks and other large trucks not carrying Blue Mountain Minerals' products. Therefore, trucks carrying Blue Mountain Minerals' products are less than 3% of the total traffic in the downtown area.

The trucks and quarries always get blamed for road damage as a reviewer did here. Those trucks pay more road taxes and weight fees to the government by far than what your cars do. If that money is getting misused you need to talk to the governor as he has diverted the funds and so did the governor before him. Those truck are not hired by the quarries but rather people who build your roads and houses like yours. Next time you want a house make sure you get one without rock products, including a driveway, septic system, and a concrete foundation.

BMM - is costing the people of Tuolumne
County millions of dollars to repair the damage their trucks do
to our roads. They pay virtually nothing to us, and we pay a lot
to repair the damage caused by their 80,000 lb/40 ton rigs pounding
our roads. And what about what we pay for tires, front end alignments,
repairing damages caused by hitting the hundreds of chuck holes,
etc. created by BMM trucks?
