I recently had a new swim platform fabricated for my 52' Cruisers after the hurricane. The manufacturer no longer made them. This was less expensive than having the old one fixed and gave us the opportunity to enlarge it also. unfortunately it took longer than I had hoped, but Beachcomber was very realistic up front on how long it would take and met that deadline for us.
Mike in sales is very conscientious, and Noah is a superb craftsman in fiberglass!
I highly recommend Beachcomber Fiberglass business. But make sure you cover ALL the details on the purchase order, as I wish I had requested more details on the finish surface in my experience. especially if you don't buys these very often...

Wow! This company knows all about service and quality. I needed a swim platform and ladder for my Classic 1978 Hatters. Beachcomber was able to produce to exact specification without an onsite visit. They had the exact specification they needed and were able to fulfill the order without delay. The boat yard I used was extremely impressed with the quality and have added Beachcomber Fiberglass to their list of preferred vendors. Recently purchased a swim platform from Beachcomber. Wanted to give future customers a heads up.

Had two major issues The first being with the construction of the platform. The platform is made with a foam type core material, not marine plywood. This presents some issues on the negative side, the thickness of the platform is little over 1" while the pictures they will show you are of a 4" flange. Because of the "thinness" the platform needs to be supported with four L shaped brackets (more if your boat is wider than 8'). This means lots of extra holes drilled into the transom and also through bolted into the swim platform. OK the brackets are stainless steel, the bolts are stainless steel. Stainless steel discolors over time when exposed to salt water. Swim platform get a lot of salt water exposure. This discoloration leaves brown streaks on the gelcoat. While brown discoloring does not matter much under the platform on top it does. The caulking that secures the bolts securing these L brackets below the water line (under the platform) needs to be monitored, any water seepage into the transom will ruin the transom and cost thousands in repairs. We are talking 12 bolt holes or more into the transom. The only plus is that the swim platform will not delaminate with water seepage into the core material. A small plus for making a flimsily swim platform. The "thinness" of the core will not support an under the platform ladder. So the ladder needs to be atop the swim platform, more bolt holes and more discoloration.

I mentioned that I had two issues well the second issue is with the management. The initial quote on pricing I found reasonable but after that I was nickel & dimed for all else. The bolts are extra, the color is extra, the brackets are extra, shipping extra if your not a business, curvature extra, drilling holes......yep extra.

Also keep in mind that the swim platform need to be curved from port to starboard and also from top to bottom since most transom are contoured in both directions.

My advice to you after having a "custom made" platform by these guys is DONT DO IT ! If I had to do it again I would have a local guy come to the boat and get EVERYTHING in writing. Have a marine plywood core that would support an under platform ladder. Have a swim platform that's more than one inch thick!!
