Having purchased a ball head from a competitor who boasted about its German quality, I returned it to B&H because the ball head felt like it was rubbing against a felt lining in the socket--not at all smooth. After much research, I opted for the Acratech ball head. The quality is of the highest caliber--very smooth ball action, and the cost was no more than the first ball head I tried and returned. This will be my go-to vendor for anything that is camera/tripod related. After speaking with the owner's wife for quite a while about the history and scope of the company, I feel privileged to be supporting an American manufacturing company. If I ever need a total hip or shoulder replacement, maybe I'll ask them to make the ball and socket for the joint--they are that good!

I was able to visit their shop recently for removal of a clamp head on an old GV2. I met a few of the employees and they were more than willing to help; even cleaned and relubricated the twist locks for the ball clamp. If you live in SoCal, send them an email or call and they’ll let you know what they can do to help. Their 10 yr warranty is solid and reliable. Solid products, nice people, and a very fine attention to detail. Thanks for the work!

I'm SOOO HAPPY I called Acratech INC. first! I spoke with Patty and helped me with a situation. I was in need of a Acratech Ultimate Ball-head mounting plate for my Canon 5D Mark IV. She directed me to the "correct" model plate for my camera. Which is 2167 type plate. It just so happened she found a semi-blemmished one on hand. I got an awesome deal and they shipped it for 5 dollars with 2 Day shipping. This is why we need American made Products and companies.

Quality products and the best customer service ! I had a problem with a tripod head....sent it for a repair thinking it might cost $$. To my surprise, the warranty ( which is much, much longer than most mfgs.) covered a complete rebuild of the unit. It was returned an essentially new head! Highly recommend their innovative products.

Rarely will a company will set it's sights on designing and building a quality product built to last well for years. Acratech is one such company, and if you have any doubts (which you should, considering how few companies live up to their own hype) contact them!
They stand by the products they sell and put their
customer service on the same level as financial profits.
Laugh if want, it sounds unbelievable, but they are that great!

I came across this company when I was viewing a Tim Shields landscape photography tutorial and was intrigued as it appears to be easy to use for both leveling the head and doing Pano's effortlessly. I made a mistake of ordering the wrong long lens head to be used as a ball head substitute and asked the company to see if they would switch it out. I am pleased to note that they approved the switch out immediately. The Leveling base is super easy to use and makes it a cinch to ensure the camera will be horizontal. The long lens head will support large lenses upto 600mm f4 with ease and changing positions is quite easy. It weighs very little, which I find it to be its biggest strength. No more ball heads for me! I would Highly recommend this company and it's products along with their very responsive service.

I replaced the original Gitzo head on my Gitzo Traveler tripod with an Actratech GPSS head and never looked back. That should give you a pretty good indication just how awesome Acratech heads are! World class customer service from a small, family owned business too!
