La Playa Beach and Golf Resort is truly a special hotel! It's located right on the beach, which provides a Carribean feel, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Nikolaus was extremely helpful when we had questions about the valet service at check-in. This polite attitude and willingness to serve was reflected throughout our stay. One night, there was only caffeinated tea in our room and the hotel took the effort to locate some non-caffeinated tea with honey and bring it up to our room. Every morning, my 4-year old son would feed the fish with the hotel fish manager. There were no other kids at the hotel participating, but my son enjoyed it and the hotel staff took the extra time to talk with him about the fish and teach him about them. We have stayed at hotels and paid similar money as this one and have not been treated as well. La Playa truly shines, not only in its luxurious accommodations, but importantly in its service attitude towards its guest and it goal to please the guest. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone, and already think we will likely be returning next February. It's a wonderful winter-time escape for any northerns.

This was our second stay here for four nights in a premium beachfront king and had mixed opinions.|The highlight was the hard working, friendly staff everywhere! |Having read about only one elevator in the Tower we were quite relieved that both were in service the day we arrived!|We were pleased with our room and especially the view… but found the shower/bath combo a little odd even dangerous. Also shocked that no daily water is supplied in the rooms!?|There is still alot of construction at the beach house and around the pool area with noise, dust, temporary restrooms etc.|We enjoyed the Baleen breakfast but had to wait a long time for lunch at the Tiki bar.|The valets here do incredible given the extremely tight driveway that is used both for the hotel and club members!|We met many guests that book here every year…but that would not be our interest given some of the above issues.

The hotel setting and beach front is beautiful. The cleaning crew, restaurant staff and beach staff were very good. The valet service was overwhelmed and the staff tried hard to keep up. The food was delicious! Horia and Perla stood out in the dining room and coffee bar.||However, it did not rate as 5 star due to the subpar amenities. For a high priced luxury resort, there were few in room amenities. There only q-tips and makeup remover pads for bathroom amenities. There was no free water in the room. Nighttime turn down had to be requested and was a “soft turndown.” It consisted of fresh towels and the bed turned down. Several requests for extra coffee creamers that was told to the front desk were never answered. Several times the front desk did not answer after multiple rings.||We had a leaky shower. I called maintenance and the worker came quickly. However after accessing the situation, he said PC he needed to get some tools. He never returned. ||This could be a great hotel if these issues were corrected.|I think an underlying problem is lack public space which is probably not correctable without major renovations.||Sincerely,|Ruth Lee

Huge disappointment! I would not stay at this resort again. Booked 3 rooms with the understanding that there would some construction going on due to last years hurricanes. One of the rooms was right in the middle of an ongoing construction zone, and looked directly over the port a potties. Debris in the hallways, drilling at 8 am, random construction workers outside our room during whole stay. Staff are very nice, but probably would not return.

The staff, both local and temporary, are friendly, helpful and responsive. The location on the beach is wonderful. Food at Baleen, though very expensive, was delicious and well served. Horia, Yadira, Sam, Raul and Perla stand out for their kind service. Diane, the concierge, was very helpful with some excellent recommendations. |There are several details that reduced the value of what we expected in a luxury property and the enjoyment of our stay.|On arrival our room had no slippers, shower cap, bar soap, washcloths or complimentary water ($9++ for a liter of Evian).|We requested softer pillows which arrived on the third day of our five day stay. |Asked for nuts or chips at the bar, none available. |No turn down happens at night, we needed fresh towels which came late after a request. |The carpet was soiled - however the rest of the room felt very clean. |Valet workers tried so hard to be helpful but the pressure of so much demand made the experience chaotic for guests

I recently booked a 6 night/2 beachfront rooms stay at LaPlaya-Naples. This is a 3 star hotel at best: Overpriced rooms, low quality amenities, overwhelmed valet and restaurant services, unclean carpets, a single functioning elevator...etc.
Upon arrival our luggage stayed 1 hour at the valet area; I eventually had to go down and retrieve them myself (With the help of a front desk person!) The 2 rooms I booked had gorgeous views but were lacking the luxury feel reflected by the nightly price of $1200 each. The shower heads looked and felt cheap. Bathtub was soiled and difficult to access. Carpets were clearly stained and odorous. And there was visible mold on the ceiling! Room air quality was very suspicious causing our kids asthma-like symptoms that would disappear immediately when they would exit the room!
Staff was kind and helpful overall. However, the valet service is slow and feels like a scam for the exorbitant daily parking fee (plus tip!) while no self-parking option is available! Baleen restaurant offers below average quality breakfast and it is inappropriately difficult to reserve for dinner. The hosts insist with the guests that the restaurant is fully booked in advance but you can easily make a reservation online! Incompetent and unacceptable.
The beach chairs and umbrella reservation system is handled poorly and dismissively. Like the valet staff, the beach staff clearly favors tipping customers when the information provided by the hotel indicates that the service is complimentary.
At departure, the bill indicated an erroneous 2 vehicles parking charge that was removed by the manager upon my highlighting the mistake.
Overall I can't recommend this hotel for the price. The only way a stay here would make sense is if the price was at least half of what they are currently charging.

Very few food options. Either an overpriced restaurant or food by the pool. Staff was nice but hard to find at times by the pool. Coffee at the bar in the morning was $6 and not worth it. Not many food options nearby, so you need to leave the hotel every time you want a snack or a meal. |The beach was lovely. Rooms were comfy, well appointed with bathrobes, and very clean. Confused by decision to furnish the room with a a four poster bed, which blocked the view of the tv when you’re in bed.

Samay provided the best service to us on the beach. She has such a wonderful personality and made sure everybody had a great time. She was quick to return our drinks, had great recommendations on food, and was very knowledgeable of the Resort. |I hope to see her again someday!
