Lake Helen lake is still flooded,I could only see about a foot of the picnic table sticking out of the water,it is all the way to the bathrooms. Never seen it that overflowed in my 54 yrs here. Don't try to go hang out any time soon cuz I think it's going to flooded for a while.

This quaint little town in the west side of Volusia County is a great place to slow down and take a leisurely walk and view the many historic homes and public buildings. The equestrian center is relatively new and hosts many of the local equestrian events.

Residential community. A few shops but not good for walking around them. They are all further back from the road. Unless you are going there to visit a specific one you won't see it from the street. Quiet neighborhoods. Housing is really either neglected old florida, historic, or large slightly newer homes. Is a horse and golf cart friendly city and has a really nice charter school. However, that is about it. Property taxes seem overly high which tends to be the case when a city appears resistant to growth. They also lack any close gas stations with interstate access.

Lovely little Old Florida community. However, due to it of town water table drainage, there is no lake in Lake Helen. There are two points and a mud pit.
