My experience with HAECO AMERICAS was deeply disappointing and highlighted significant issues with leadership, fairness, and potential discrimination. Michael Simmons, a new project manager, reprimanded me for not sweeping in the exact manner he insisted was 'protocol,' despite no official guidelines supporting this claim. As someone with a decade of experience in aviation, I found his behavior unreasonable. When I expressed that I wouldn’t tolerate his aggressive display of authority and decided to leave for the day, he called me into his office.
During this meeting, Michael attempted to belittle me, insisting I agree with his unsupported methods. When we couldn’t reach an understanding, he sent me home, stating I was to wait for further instructions. On my way out, he insisted I clock out at Hangar 5—a 10-minute walk from the entrance—claiming it was 'policy,' even though this had never been enforced before. It was clear this was a petty attempt to assert control.
Michael's hypocrisy became even more evident during HR proceedings. Despite encouraging employees in meetings to speak freely and voice concerns, he used my participation against me, claiming it was inappropriate. He even falsely accused me of recording conversations, which I did not do.
Adding to the unprofessionalism, Michael also fired my father, who was on a completely different crew under another project manager. My father’s only 'offense' was placing a note on his toolbox that read, 'New training—learn to sweep with love and care so you don’t get fired like a dog.' Michael claimed to feel 'intimidated' by the note, despite my father not being under his supervision.
What makes this even more egregious is that the workplace is full of stickers and propaganda on toolboxes—some political, vulgar, or blatantly inappropriate—yet none of these have ever been addressed. Somehow, a harmless note from my father was deemed fireable, exposing an unfair double standard and a personal vendetta.
Additionally, this company has a concerningly high rate of firing Hispanic workers, which warrants investigation for potential discrimination. The pattern raises serious questions about fairness and equal treatment within the workplace.
When we took the matter to HR, Michael attempted to involve his friend, the maintenance supervisor Tirzo, to back him up. Tirzo claimed he would investigate the matter but never did. In HR, I explained the situation thoroughly, but they sided with Michael at every turn, continuing HAECO’s well-known pattern of prioritizing management over employees.
To make matters worse, rumors of my termination spread across the hangar before I was officially informed. I had to approach management myself to confirm that I had indeed been fired.
This entire experience was unprofessional and highlighted systemic issues within HAECO’s leadership and HR practices. Employees deserve respect, fairness, and protection from discrimination. I hope the company is held accountable and takes action to address these serious concerns.

Haeco People are great, the Security supervisor thinks he's J E Hoover, a true low IQ rent a cop, goes home and follows you tours on GPS. So glad to be out of there, but miss the guys
