Good morning folks. This is Larry Sams of Southern Meats , I just want you all to know I read every review on this site. For those of you that have given us a good review I thank you, for those of you who gave us a bad review please contact me in person so we can get this right. In the past we unfortunately had some unscrupulous employees though thats no excuse. I am a person who lives in this community and would like to make good on anything that was a problem. I now have a team at the Lacanto plant and the retail store who are second to none. They are knowledgeable and provide excellent customer service. So please let us know what we can do for you. Dropped off Bull for processing. Minute I got there I felt uncomfortable. I am so upset I did not follow my gut and leave. Began calling to pick up my beef at the 3 week time given. No answer. Reached Larry a week later. He told me his freezers went down and they lost all my meat. My hanging weight was 1837. I knew instinctively he was not telling the truth.When I ask to come and se where they buried the beef( area is pasture at least 100 acres)Larry then stated the meat had been taken to Citrus County Landfill. Another untruth. I reached out to LeCanto Sheriff's Department for help. Was told by very attention deputy that they would go as a Citizen Assist . So I prepared to visit and discuss with Larry how he intended to repay me. When I called next day for the attendance with a Deputy .. this deputy stated the other depudid not know what he was talking about because.. they LeCanto Sheriff Department did not fo that. Back to the beef. Multiple calls promises from Larry to make good... song and dance from Larry. I am now on my next page to have this processing plant held accountable for their wrong doings. If anyone wishes to join me please leave comment and I will contact you.. you bull would have brought $3000. at market and beef value at $6000. Per Larry's own account. I see where Health Department is investigating. And USDA has federal case.I will keep everyone updated.

Only getting 1 star to leave this review. This place had us drop our hog off almost 3 weeks ago and everytime we call they don't know if it is ready and keep telling us to call back at 7:30am. We call back and they don't answer. After calling to report we found out there is an open USDA federal case against them and the Citrus County health department has them under investigation as well. Stay away from these scam artists! They just robbed us of food for our family, don't let them do it to you!

On a Thursday I delivered 2 hogs for processing, I was told on Saturday they had cut the hogs up and I could pick up the meat on Monday. I called on Monday and was told he would call me back , never called me back. Went to the processing building. After waiting for 3 hours I was told the hogs had not been cut up yet I waited and watched them cut them up, paid $300 , got my hog meat and left, missing part of the order. I wouldn't recommend this place to do anything.

The place is very clean. And portions generous. They gave us $100.00 worth of meat and said bring the money back if you can! They work with food insufficiency places you cannot fault the heart of these people!

I had a celebration of life party for my uncle in which I was supposed to cook for 35 people I spoke with the owner a week in advance to order a whole pig for a roast I repeatedly checked in with him throughout the week to make sure everything was in order to pick it up on Friday at 12pm he assured me it would be ready I went to the address he provided and waited over an hour he kept giving me excuses saying they guy who was supposed to deliver the pig would be on his way shortly I ended up leaving and he said he would deliver it to me. Well 5 o’clock rolls around and no one is answering their phone and basically I was left high and dry no return texts no return phone calls. This place is a joke they do terrible business and I was forced to figure out things last minute. Complete waste of time!

This place stole half my cow. I got only 3 roast, 3, an it was all shank, no briskets no rump no chuck roast. I received no stew meat, none. No brisket at all. I only received 35 packages of ground meat, that’s not a whole cow worth. When I called they told me I ask for more steaks. Which was not the case. They told me that the cow was older and it should have been all hamburger. I beg to differ, older cows are better tasting. Regardless of how old I did not received any of the prim cuts. Will not use them again an will not recommend them

No reason to fill out cut sheet because they haven't followed it yet. Didn't recieve what we asked for on Cut-sheet. Tried to call to get what we wanted, they wouldn't return our calls. Won't even get into what happened when they came out to harvest our Steer.
