Absolutely horrible experience. Saturday, October 16, down in the villages helping my 90 year old mother move to Georgia. Drove to this site, with my wife, around 1 pm, with my SUV full of items for disposal. Met by female county employee. told her story why we are here. She said she needed my 90 year old mother, with her ID, to be in the car with me. I said she was home with the movers. She told me those were the rules, and she has even turned down people she knows because they did not have the proper ID. I asked if I could have the movers take a picture of her ID and text it to me. At that point she said she would get her boss. I made the phone call to my Mom. Her boss appeared and was very short and rude from the start. I explained the situation while calling my Mom. I said I would get the movers to take a picture of her ID and a picture of her holding the ID. His comment was " How do I know that your Mom is even alive and how do I know that you did not alter the pictures?" As he stood there she answered her cell phone, I put her on speaker. I said this is my Mom. He said how do I know that this is not someone else? I continued to talk to her, with him starting to walk away. I asked her what county do you live in? She replied Sumter county. When the boss heard that he turned to me and said "Nice Try"!. I apologized that I did not know what county she lived in since I am from Georgia. He continued to walk away and would not listen to anything I had to say. I started to drive away, went by him and I tried to apologize again. He just walked away..I never yelled at him, got out of my car, threatened him, or swore at him. My wife and I were more in shock of his treatment of us.
I went home, picked up my Mom, and headed to the Sumter County Transfer Ststion. Upon arrival there, I gave them my mother's ID and said she is the Sumter resident. They just looked at me! They do not ask for ID or where you live! So I took my 90 year old Mom on an unnecessary ride leaving her movers at the house.
In conclusion, if you have an SUV full of junk, with a Georgia License Plate, and you have an altered picture of your 90 year old Mom holding her drivers license, and you put a person on speaker phone impersonating your 90 year old dead mother, don't try it at the Lake County Transfer Station. They will catch you!
FYi...My 90 year old Mother has moved to Georgia to be with family. She is very much alive and I can send you an actual picture of her with her drivers license!
To the residents of Lake County and Lake County Government. These 2 employees are an embarrassment to your county. The rudeness, lack of respect, and accusations made to me, my wife, and my 90 year old mother were appalling! Government is here to serve the people not the other way around!

I would advise to call ahead and ask for the rules of what/how/when you are permitted to dispose of items at this location.
I have used this location many times to dispose of lawn waste. It's almost always on a Saturday. Every time, the female gatekeeper is who greets us. She is snappy and speaks to us like we are criminals every time trying to do something we aren't supposed to do (no bags, nothing longer than 4 ft, nothing larger than 6 inch diameter). I am a rule follower and work to stay within the rules. If you happen to not know a rule and you are found not following it, you are berated in a loud and rude tone. She might consider, "It's not what you say, it's how you say it." You will also need your drivers license to prove you live in Lake County. If you happen to live primarily in another county and own a second home in Lake County, you will also need a copy of your utility bill to prove it.
It might be helpful to post the rules on this page.

Tried to use this facility for the first time ever - live in the tri-county area and the facility I typically use is closed on Tuesday. Was in the area and saw they were open... Got immediately verbally assaulted by the attendant on duty and was asked for license for proof of residency. That's a first. Never been asked for my ID to dump trash. Informed attendant that I am a Marion county resident (literally less than 2 miles outside of Lake county) and got yelled at that "I'm not supposed to be here". I tried to use a facility, I'm not dumping my trash on the side of the road or in the woods. Just wow. This woman could have very politely said something along the lines of "Unfortunately this facility is only for Lake county residents, I apologize for any inconvenience", but no. She went full Karen on me, yelled and screamed, when I was nothing but polite. Hope the supervisor/manager of this facility will speak to their staff and let them know that they should not be treating people this way. It was disrespectful, rude, and 100% uncalled for.

After someone dumped tires on our property, we weren't sure how we could get rid of them. After some research, our neighbor found that the Lake County Transfer Station will take up to 5 tires, per resident, per year. The transfer station was well organized and the staff was friendly. At this time, they are only open on Tuesday & Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

I went to Lady Lake about a month ago. There was very loud voices. I thought men were sitting under the tent talking. They were using very bad language talking about a woman. Using the F word etc. I looked in the tent like shelter and it was one man listening to a talk show of some type on the radio. But you could hear all over tbe place. This type of thing is uncalled for. Sure listen to radio but not blair vulgar talk for all to hear.
